I've been having an ongoing issue with a guineas foot. I have posted before so you may have seen it. Well a new development. I think she is losing a toe. What that means I have no idea, no idea how to treat or what to do. She has been on oral antibiotics in the basement but I can't take her constant chirping so she's back outside and so I can't treat her that way anymore. Any ideas would be great, I'm totally lost on what to do and feel horrible not being able to do more for her.

She was outside a good part of the day and managed to break a claw on the other foot. I hope this isn't the start to more problems. I wish I knew what was going on with her.

looks like it. My guinea had 3 toes that looked like that from frost bite, I just left her alone until one partially tore off and she was bleeding. I then took her inside, soaked the foot in a warm antiseptic soapy water. I then wrapped her in a towel covering her head, and my husband amputated her toes with a very sharp, sterile knife. I then wrapped the stump in gauze with antibiotic ointment, and wrapped that in the stretchy v-wrap. She is doing well, and is getting around great now, I should not have waited until it tore off.

Good luck!

Thanks, that's kind of what I was afraid of - the having to amputate, I'm a big wimp when it comes to injuries.

I'm so sorry... having the same problem with my bantam Polish Rooster... And I know mine is from frostbite... Wonder if a male can still breed with 1 or more toes gone??? hmmmm....
