Usually it's the opposite...at the beginning of laying cycle in spring the brown coating is heavier(at least after the first few eggs) then will fade at varying rates as the season progresses.Egg color changes throughout the year for my Easter eggers they usually lay olive eggs but in the spring they always start out blue
