Hello all
We got our chicks about six weeks ago now.
I had purchased a nice small coop kit for 6 chickens weeks earlier. But doing my chicken math realized it wasn’t big enough. So went to The drawing board. So I sketched a design, and in the middle of building it now. We have couple raccoons and a skunk that pass through the yard frequently so I wanted to make sure it was secure and ipredator proof being being that I did just trap one of the raccoons last night
My question is if I still need to lay wire down around the perimeter of my footing?.
Footing is 23 ft long, 6 inches in the ground on one end and about 11 inches high on the surface of the other end. The inside has grade has been brought up to the the top of concrete. So just wondering from how far an animal will dig as well to get in there.
Thanks for any advice

Jaybird,

I don't think any predators will be able to dig under your foundation/footing. If by chance a predator is able to dig under that mass of concrete, I suggest a firearm with a caliber that starts wtih the number .4.

Very impressive bit of concrete framing! Well done.

Laughing, well said and Thankyou

Got drawings?

Nice form work for sure.

So bottom of concrete is 6" below grade all the way around?
They might dig under, but not up thru the inner fill.
Tho the chickens may dig down ~8" or so.

23' long...how wide?

What is this:

Thankyou
Drawings were just rough sketches
One side is at grade about 6 inches down
The other end is about 11” on grade
4 ft wide
That’s a conduit I ran up through the footing for power
