This is my first time hatching eggs and patience is unfortunately not one of my virtues. we are on day 3. Is this a start of something?

Good chance that it is. That dot should be even more visible by day 7 and the blood vessels will be quite obvious. Best of luck on your hatch! I totally resonate with the impatience - all I want to do when I’m hatching is candle! 😆
 
Same here. Just have to stay busy for three weeks.
