Am I the only one that hates halloween?

Honey I don't wanna get off my butt at this hour either! Especially for that!!! When I did my mom's house for her - she is disabled - I parked a chair in front of the open door. Call me lazy, but it gets old after the really cute little kids. There is nothing wrong with you!

This reminds me.... My boss won free lunch from Chipotle for everyone at work. This is 150 people mind you. We told them they had to wear their uniform in to qualify. One dude says "Wow I have like 5 shirts, my whole family can go".

You are too kind!

So DW and the younger kids go to the Church for a "Trunk or Treat" coupled with a Cornbread & Chili Cookoff.. So we always close our street so that no cars can drive on it.

I started handing out toothbrushes at 6PM and by 7:20PM I had given out 400. I had another 50 people come until I ran out of candy and I had to come in and shut off all of the lights.

DW just got home and she said both HUGE sacks of candy that she had bought for the trunk or treat were also history.

We bought a ton and it's all gone.

Our neighbors got to the point where they had to start opening up the Junior mints and handed one candy at a time out... GROSS.

Anyway... I'm glad it's November tomorrow, but the evening was amazing... it warmed up again.

62 degrees out there.. NICE!

Glad I don't have to worry about a time change.

I didn't really appreciate Halloween until I grew up and realized that it was meant to be an adult holiday, and that it's all about the fun party, themed foods, pumpkin carving, bonfires, scary stories, and haunted houses and wood walks. If you focus on that and just ignore the children begging for candy, it's a very enjoyable holiday, better than Christmas or Thanksgiving because it doesn't carry with it the unattainable expectations that always stress people out.

But yes, I hate the Halloween that is made up of people feeling I'm obligated to give out candy, just like I hate the Christmas that is made up of people feeling I'm obligated to buy gifts for people or the birthday that makes people think they need to get me gifts. I find most holidays I think I hate actually become my favorites as soon as I pick and choose through the traditions associated with them.

I'm enjoying this Halloween. I'm up to about 60 kids all in great costumes. All the little ones with parents. Even the teenagers are being good. I think just about everyone has said thank you.

Imp-bring on Thanksgiving now

I have noticed that there is a whole 'nother side to it now that I'm "adult"
There's a huge party at the local bar, so everyone who doesn't have kids or doesn't do the candy-begging thing will probably be there doing adult stuff while dressed like a hooker. LOL

I kind of like Halloween.

We go on a hay ride to pick out our pumpkin. We carve our pumpkins and roast the seeds, make cupcakes with little plastic spiders on them. I made real hot chocolate with real whipped cream for my kids and any trick-or-treaters that stop by(only family members or friends where we live).

We don't get any trick or treaters here except a few family members but I take my little guy around to other family members and friends. Don't think I'd ever take him to houses where we don't know the people.

So there is nothing really negative and no strangers around for Halloween here.

I'd rather celebrate Halloween with the traditional bonfire and such, but we take the kids out begging for candy.

We do the bonfire thing for the winter solstice.

Hard to keep all those time-honored pagan traditions alive, with all those christians usurping all the holidays.
