Who collects my duck's feathers?
And not just mine, lol
I also go around when i visit my goats and pick up chicken, guinea, peacock, and turkey feathers.

I cant help it. They are just so soft and purdy, and colorful and...

well you get the picture. I keep telling myself its becuase im going to learn how to do dream catchers, but I havent even started looking up instructions.

SO, does anyone else collect feathers or am I just a weirdo? o.0

I love to collect the feathers, force myself not to sometimes because I'm not sure what I would do with them all. Sometimes I have included them in envelopes when I write someone, if I know they have a sense of humor. My mom really loved that. I also stick them in picture frames as a little embellishment. I have four different kinds of ducks so each one has very identifiable feathers, and I treasure each one, but I have to say the ones from my Welsh Harlequin are the best .

Just my peacocks and pheasants, I really like the little ones off the neck and back of the pea's. Ok- I admit also a few of the ducks and chickens- and the quail and parakeets.

What ever am I going to do with them.

The Yorkie collects them also, he loves to pickup a feather and run around with it, acts like he has really done something. I'm going to see if I can catch this in photo or film.

My two year old sun collects feathers and 'kills' everyone and everything with them. The other day he was 'sword-fighting' with my MILs St. Bernard/Gran Pyranees with a rooster tail feather...

Are only down feathers good for stuffing into crafts?

Not sure, never "stuffed" anything. Mostly I just have them sitting around my room.

I take old bottles ( coke, water, gatorade, etc.) And put feathers together.

Like in one i have peacocks, another turkeys, guineas, chickens, wild duck feathers, then my own.

A few weeks ago I went to Titus blue grass festival, and this lady had a whole bunch of baskets for sale for between 10 cents and $2. I had a shopping spree! You can never have too many baskets or buckets around here.

LOL! Thought we were the only weirdos!

I remember before we had chickens, taking the kids out ot a friend's house that had guineas. O-M-G!!! The kids were going NUTS over the polka dot feathers!

Those people thought we were insane! LOL!

I still have feathers from my cockatiel from when I was little and an Amazon parrot my grandfather had from over 30 years ago! We'll pick up feathers anywhere we see them. Even my DH does it now! LOL!

Maybe we should start a feather swap!

My goodness, so happy to hear that there are other feather collectors! I have glasses and vases full of feathers from my 10 parrots and since I became a new chicken mama am saving their feathers too! they are all so pretty!

I do it ALL THE TIME!!! Then when ive got a handfull or two... or three... or four, I put them in my hens perfect little nests! It give them an el naturel look!

When my mallards were going through their fall molts, I kept any Speculum feathers that i found that were in good shape, most of them were torn though.

when our European Starling Kenya died, we kept some of his chest feathers.
