Am I the only weirdo here that doesn't like to touch or hold the

chickens? I see all these posts about people holding them on their lap or picking them up and I can't imagine myself wanting any of that. I don't mind if they peck food from my hand though.

I love to handle mine, they smell quite sweet, the feathers are soft, and they flatten and sit on my lap like a cat.

So.....I'm sure there are others who don't like to handle them, but I do.

I am getting to that point of not wanting to pick any up or have them sit in my lap. No matter how much I clean up the pen and coop I swear they go out of their way to walk in POOP!

I do like to crouch down and pet them. Their feathers are so soft.

it depends on the individual bird some of my game birds like to be held as well as most of my seramas are more or less hand raised and they pester me to hold them some just want to sit beside me on the stoop

I think some people do and some don't , I'm a little crazy and give them " pets' everyday! Mine all have different personalities some like to be handled more than others.

Oh, I give mine hugs all the time (much to my rooster's chagrin

) I think it depends on your personality, I'm MUST touch my animals! Cannot.leave.hands.off!

What is weird about me though is that I will not touch a wild baby bird at all--like I'm scared of them---now that's weird

I love to pet and pick up all my animals if they'll let me(which at the moment just consists of a bunch of chickens and 2 dogs, but over the years, starting when I was very small, has consisted of ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ducks, guineas, a rat, more dogs, and more chickens), and a few of the current chicks like to fly up and sit on my shoulder, which is fine except for the poopy feet that they occasionally have.

Usually if they want to be messed with, they'll come over to me, and many of the chicks will fly up and sit on my lap or arm (or the aforementioned shoulder). Some of the older chickens will only come around if they think I have a treat, and I'll pat them on the backs. Some of the chickens just don't want to be bothered, and if they don't want to be handled, I generally don't bother them. They're all different when it comes to whether they want attention or whether they'd just rather be left alone.

I sit in my coop at least two or more times a day to hold, pet, kiss and give my chickens lots of love. I wear my "coop" pants and shoes so the poop does not bother me a bit. It's one of the best times of the day for me.

I was planning on giving all the extra Barred Rock cockerels (all the BRs were packing peanuts from an Ideal order) to a family friend for his freezer, but I may keep the one that likes to sit on my head. I've become attached to him, and I'll definitely be keeping the one that turned out to be a pullet, so I need him to go with her...or that's the reasoning I'm using anyway.

Coop pants...lol I guess it's similar to our chicken, farm, work or play clothes!!!
