I got my older chickens from a woman who lives on a farm. She didn't seem extremely confidant that my black pullet was a black star. What do you think? I'd hate if Harriet turned out to be male.

Also, I didn't know about the EE/Amaraucana confusion before and I wanted to know if you all think my Buff Amaraucana is really just that. She's three weeks today.

Now, I got this Amaraucana, Alice Paul, at the same place I got Harriet. She is about 8 weeks. She looks Amaracauna, right? RIGHT?

Hope you all can help!

Nope, she's an EE, the green legs are a dead giveaway. The first pic looks really young to have that red of comb/wattles. The second pic does look like a black star, or black sex link.

Well, heck! Oh well, a chicken is a chicken is a chicken. And I'm still not sure what the differerance between an EE and Amarucana is. I don't really care what color the shells of the eggs that I eat are anyway.

Well your EE's could lay any color eggs but probably have a good chance of laying green. EE's are not a breed but a cross breed of a blue egg layer with any other breed. Ameraucanas are a breed.

HAHA! Just came back from reading that! Seems wrong to sell a chicken as one thing and have it be another. Good thing I don't give a hoot! Or a Cluck, for that matter.

Yes, hence the frustration of most Ameraucana breeders. Though there are a few who are actively writing the hatcheries to get them to change what they call them. The sad thing is that unknowing folks buy them as "Ameraucanas" from feed stores and then turn around and perpetuate the problem by selling what they believe to be "pure bred Ameraucanas" to others...

BTW, can any of you tell me if my EEs are female or male?
