OK here is one for the books! First off my 2 year old Polish hen decided to go broody...that shocked me! She was on 11 eggs, this morning I go out and see a chick peeking out from under the hen! Go out a couple hours later and she is off the nest and all chicks are under her. I see some broken shells and looked like 3 unhatched eggs. Go back out a few hours later, she is still off the nest so I get a plastic bag and put the shells in it and find there is only 2 unhatched eggs..take them put them in the bag. ti a knot i the bag and throw it in the trash. more then 7 hours later I come home and here peeping, look all over for a baby bird thinking one fell out of its nest..don't find anything! Then I remember the eggs I tossed in the trash..open the trash can pull up the plastic bag and a live chick is peeping away! I took him Or her to the coop and put under the hen. She seemed fine with it! Unbelievable! So 10 out of 11 chicks! I guess chicks can hatch in a plastic bag in the trash! Who would have thought!
