Amazingly, success!!!

Despite the fact that I came home to a cold egg last Wednesday, I came home today to find a very-much-alive chick had hatched out of the egg that I stuck back under my broody! I was going to remove the egg today and candle the others I put under her last Thursday and opened the coop door to the "cheep, cheep, cheep" of a fluffy little peeper! WOOHOO!!! I guess those other eggs need to go elsewhere now, because they still have more than 2 weeks before they'd hatch. Comments anyone?

I don't have an incubator! This whole thing started out when Miss Broody kept setting, and I left her with 4 eggs. Only the one developed...until the day I messed up and it got cold. I stuck more eggs under her, and 6 under her sister who had joined her in the "Broody Fest"! I guess I'll just candle tonight the way I had planned and stick all developing eggs under the other hen.
