I got 4 birds a week and a half ago, all look good except one. Her beard is all wet and shes holding her mouth open. And I noticed liquid dripping from her mouth, shes Not really wanting to eat like the rest and when I try to catch her she runs fast like normal. Any Ideas

you have to try and catch her to get a better look at whats going on..night time is best when they are asleep, much easier to catch!
could be anything from something stuck in her throat, gapeworms, crop issues to respitory problems....

how does her crop feel? (hard, full, empty, squishy?)
is there any smell coming from her mouth/nose?
any discharge from the nose/eyes?
when you look in her mouth can you see anything in there?

Try some apple cider vinegar, got to be organic raw unfiltered. Helping in three ways. The tannins in the organic vinegar help keep the mucus level down, and the apple in it gives them a good amount of vitamin C and the acidicness helps them ward off illness, and it can help if it's a sour crop issue. I use the brand "Braggs" its pretty easy to find just check local grocery stores. And the mixture is 1 teaspoon per qt. And if you have very high ph water you can add a little bit extra!
Hope this helps you, if you try this you will be hooked! Chickens seem to like the taste too!

Ok I caught her a little more info might help. Ive only had her a week and a half . today is the first time I noticed it. Her beard around her neck is all wet and shes just standing with the others, they are eating and shes just standing there, she seams to want to eat and bends down but dosent pick. when I caught her it does smell. I didnt look in her throat. I was worried about getting it on me, I gave her some ivomectin orally. Then I came inside and bleached my hands and arms and took a shower. Im really new to chickens only had them for a few weeks. Should I keep an eye on her or cull? I only have a few adult birds. 2 ameracanas 2 gold laced wyndottes and another hen. and 13 chicks about 3 weeks old. Anything else I can check?

I've never heard of anyone one using ivomec on chickens... I know for dogs on the 1 percent injectable solution 1 cc orally per 100 lbs treats a dog for hooks and heart worms, but doesn't kill rounds. Um... Let us know how that works out. Pipperzine 17 is what is usually used on chickens.

Is her crop empty in the morning or is it staying full? If it's staying full overnight and it smells she might have a sour crop. Do a search for "sour crop" and see if that's it and if so, what treatment you choose to use.

Good luck with her.

well I went back out to atch some more and she came over to me. Ive been feeding the layer pellets but I have some layer crumble, I put a pile of the crumble on the ground a she started eating . The ivomectin treatment I read on a site for the worms in the throat.gapeworms? it said to use 5-9 drops for adult chickens. I also started them all on some Duramycin-10. When I held her the crop didnt feel hard. But Im no expert either.

Oh ok, seems like a good choice on antibiotic there, but if all else doesn't work in a few days be sure to try the apple cider vinegar! Hope you chicken gets better!

Make sure to check her crop, see if it's squishy. I dealt with this once and was able to get it of it by feeding my chicken crumble mixed with live culture yogurt, apple cider vinegar and a bit of olive oil. Not too much though because it can be bad for their livers I think. After about 4 days of this regime, I woke up to my chicken having an empty crop!
