Ameracauna chicks - what gender @ five weeks? (Picture heavy!)

pips&peeps :

No, unfortunately it tells me that they are not pure ameraucanas. It means they have yellow skin. True ameraucanas have white skin and the bottoms of the feet would be white.

I asked because the feet and beaks looked very yellow in your pictures.

good to know...I recently purchased 3 from a feed store, told they were Ameracaunas, will check the peeps feet when I get home, dark legs...

here they are at 9 days old:

I felt the same way as I was photographing the poor little guy...already feeling bad for taking him out of his coop when they were getting ready for bed. But it's the only time I can catch the fast little critters!

Still love my little chickies even w/ their green feet!

I'm no expert by any means - but these do look like the EEs that a lot of people post pictures of. I'm sure someone else will chime in too.

Welcome to the thread! Your babies are adorable!

Unfortunately, feed stores do not sell Ameraucanas, or Araucanas. Those are exclusive breeds that are very strictly regulated. You can only get these pure breds from a breeder.

The birds at the feedstore are always mis-labled unfortunately. Fortunately, Easter Eggers (which is what you have), are adorable and wonderful birds! You are still very likely to receive colored eggs, and I personally think they're every bit as good as their purebred cousins!

Oh I agree, I still like them, and I KNEW they weren't pure bred...that much I do know...the soles of their feet are the same color as their legs....since the one poster stated that the soles were white...so EE all the way, I can't wait for them to grow up...!

I just love your babies, I was going to get an ee but they were too small for me to get when I got my others. I think I have room for 1 more comfortably in the coop.
