I have never had this breed and understand that there is some variety in charistics here and that they have been cross bread .... Not complaining about what I got - bought 4 at local feed store they are 7 weeks old now and all sold as sexed hens, .... BUT

2 definately look different than the other 2.

2 have a lot of tan, light brown, and some darker brown feathering.... 2 have mostly darker brown, some light brown and even redish feathering.

Any thoughts or comments? Does the breed vary that much or to I have 2 roosters in the breed? Which ones?

If you got them from a feed store, then they are defiantly EEs. Ameraucanas only come in 8 accepted colors, white, silver, brown red, wheaten, blue wheaten, blue, black, and buff. EEs can come in any color, or pattern and can or cannot have beards and muffs, which ameraucanas must have. Oh, and amerIcanas is just a miss spelling of ameraucanas =)

Yes I knew there was confusion with this breed. I had read somewhere when researching that 'Americania" spelling was actually used somewhat misleadingly to represent the "ucana" and colored eggs.

So jurry still out huh. May have 2 different looking hens (4) or could have a couple of roosters mixed in.

EEs can look like anything, I have three pullets, and all of them have a different pattern.

Yes, my two ee's are girls I hope, but are very different. Size, actions, patterns, all different. But they are just mutts, so the second half of their heritage is unknown, and that accounts for differences.
