Hi there. I was sold a small number of chickens (hens and one rooster) as Ameraucana. The guy even shows these birds! They all have beards and muffs and slate/black legs, (and tails) but the eggs just aren’t right. I have green eggs, pale brown eggs, and occasionally a white egg. I know if they were Easter Eggers he shouldn’t be able to show them, he did clearly write it as Ameraucana, and they have the characteristic features. Do I actually have Ameraucana or not?

They certainly look like Black Ameraucanas to me. Their eggs can be blue or green or any shade in between. Some may have missed a gene and lay brown eggs (I have an "olive egger" that lays brown eggs). Shouldn't be any white in the mix, I don't think. Shows that the genetic makeup is weak I guess. Lovely birds! Quite striking! :love

The “white” eggs, when they happen, I guess aren’t pure white, they’re probably a VERY pale green.

Ameraucana should hAve slate black legs. In the pics, some legs look like colored.
As I said, they all have slate/black legs. The pictures where that’s not clear are pictures where you can see the colours are not quite right colour-wise throughout (ex. in front of the hen house). The pictures where the colour shows clearly (two hens together, rooster) are what all the chickens are like.
