Ameraucana flock question...

I have a trio of Blue Ameraucana that are doing a great job of giving me fertile eggs to hatch...I now have 21 blue/black/splash babies with more to hatch soon under broodies.

The parents are really flighty, don't like us at all and freak if we go into the coop with them. My plan is to create a friendlier flock of 1 roo and 6-7 hens from the babies I am hatching and sell the parents. I really love the look of the Splash roos, but I am unsure what color would be best to keep. I am hoping to get a couple roos of the color I choose so I can keep the one with the best color/temperment.

I want to still get bbs babies when they are old enough....will I get all 3 colors of chicks if I keep a Splash roo and some then blue, black and splash hens?

The only part I think I know is Splash x Splash = Splash, right?

What color roo would you keep?

this is what you get:
Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash
Splash X Black = 100% Blue
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Black X Black = 100% Black

my ameraucana are laid back, even the ones I haven't held much as chicks. It might be the lines you have? I wanted to keep a splash roo but all my splash have been pullets so far. I have a few more growing out but nothing says roo about them yet

Thanks for the help!

So, looks like if I want all 3 colors in chicks, I have to stick with a blue roo. Hmm, decisions decisions. I might have to sacrifice getting black chicks just to keep a Splash roo. I can only keep 1 roo.

I bought the trio from peachick (on BYC) and I think they are just flighty due to being freeranged and not handled much...not sure. One of their 2 month old chicks (I only have 3 that old so far) is an absolute sweetheart and the other two don't mind being held, so I have hopes that its just the lack of handling of the parents.

If I crossed a Splash roo with a normal brownish colored EE or a Wheaten Ameraucana, any idea what colors I might come up with? Any chance of getting an EE with some blue in it?

I haven't gotten any from her so I am not familiar with hers. I have some from Jean(pips&peeps) which I have an awesome roo, he is completely not aggressive with people and the others are from Gary(geareduplyn) which all are free ranged but if they are in the coop they don't care if I come in and I can take eggs from under them without them even seeming distressed. It is my favorite breed....

eta- you really don't know what you will get when you cross them with EE's because you don't know what color is in the background of the EE, you only see the visual color.....I crossed some ameraucana for EE's because my flock is not separated and got some interesting colors.....

After standard Cochins, the Ameraucanas take a close second. I love the blue/splash birds and the blue eggs.

I think peachick hatched these 3 herself, but not sure which line they came from. Guess I should ask lol.

The roo I have now has never been agressive at all, which I am thankful for, just very flighty and mouthy. They are a very vocal trio. The lighter blue went broody and she would growl when I checked on the eggs. The roo is always growling, crowing, making that warning cackle or just making noises in general lol.

Guess it can't hurt to try with the EEs & Wheaten just to see what colors I get. That won't be til next Springs hatching though.

I want to get a few more EEs before mine get too old or something happens to them.
