How old is it? It looks like a hen, but age could make a difference.

Also, please don't hold your bird by it's wings like that. You could injure it. Place your hand under the body so that your two middle fingers go between the legs and your outer fingers are on either side of the legs. That way you can hold the legs and place your other hand on the back to hold it steady.

Somebody is selling it to me. I would never hold a bird like that. I just wanted to make sure what gender it is before I bought it.

If you buying it, check for lice near the vent and under belly. Believe me you don't want that in your flock. I bought lavender orpingtons from a great breeder with beautiful feathers, but I didn't check and sure enough they had lice.
