ameraucana or EE

Ok, thank you. I bought them from a pet store, and they said they were ameraucanas. But I got researching them and they didn't match a true ameraucana. And I am just wondering, how can you tell?

Ameraucanas only come in 8 colours according to the SOP (standard of perfection).

Easter Eggers usually have green legs too, but they can have slate or even yellow legs and come in a myriad of colours.

If any pet store/supply store is selling chicks as "Ameraucanas" or "Americanas", they are Easter Eggers.

You can usually only get pure Ameraucanas from breeders.

Ok, thank you. They said they buy it from a breeder, but as I started to look into it, they didn't seem right. Thank you for you confirmation.

Check out the Ameraucana Breeder's Club website. There is probably a breeder within driving distance you could get some peeps from.

It doesn't matter exactly what my chicken is, because we just have them for eggs and as pets, but I'm just confused about these breeds: Araucanas, Ameraucanas and EEs. She was sold to me as an Araucana or an EE. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

She's an EE - she isn't rumpless, not does she have ear tufts; both classic signs of purebred Araucanas.
