I have two of these, and they are both pullets as far as i know. However, one has puffy feathers on her face and around her ears.....and the other does not. They are the same age.

What is that about?

Ill have to get some pics. Its just wierd...becuase aside from that, they look identical. When they were younger, the one started getting that muffing on her face and i thought she had been poisoned and was beginning to swell up!

I have 2 that I got together from Ideal (pics on my Standards page-Aurora and Camilla) one has the fluffy face and the other is clean faced. Other than that their coloring is very similar. EEs definitely come in all colors and feather variations...each one seems to be unique in one way or another.

Ideal sells mutts? Eh..thats ok, as long as they lay eggs, i dont really care that much.

Yes, anything labeled as a "Americana" or "Araucana" that come from the hatcheries (McMurray, Ideal, Privett, etc) are all mutts. They are just bred to produce colored eggs, not bred to their standard.

Oh...cool.

So the one with the muffs is closer to the 'breed standard'?
