Can you tell by their first feathers coming in if they will be a hen or roo? These are almost 3 weeks old.

this one has lighter feathers

since they are a mixed breed I do not think you will be able to tell sex by the coloring but maybe by the combs and shape of the fetathers

Actually these look like wheaten ameraucanas to me. The pullets feather in lighter, yes. Black will be the giveaway for the wheaten males and some darker gray in the blue wheaten males. The lowest does look like a pullet. The top is probably a wheaten male. Not sure about the middle two. More shots of their backs would help. Very sweet.

Thank you, these are wheaten ameraucanas. good eye!
I bought them from a breeder and it looks like i got mostly roos, which is not surprising..lol

The middle pic may have a pullet in it. Could you post some more pics from the top looking down? Their genders will become very evident very soon. Don't be too discouraged yet. Wheaten females have a bit of black on their tails and wings. If you see black on the backs, it is surely a wheaten male. Blue wheaten females get a touch of blue on their tails, a small amount on their backs and a touch on the wings.

So just because some have blue or black, doesn't necessarily mean roo.

I was just noticing that some were darker than others and thought that might help with telling them apart. I will wait another week and take more pics (closer ones). Out of 5 I might have 2 hens.
It's a waiting game...

Thanks for your help and knowledge.
