I have a Ameraucana Roo, Im Pretty Sure, At least thats what he looks like acording to the pictures I have found online, and i was wanting some hens so I could breed them and have some babbies!!! How would I be able to tell if he is a EE in stead, He came from murray Mcmurray as my free rare chick! <(") I jus dont know where to get any around here. I Live in Pilot Mountain NC. I am looking for some that have been laying for a couple of months maybe. If you Have any sugestions Please let me know. I would like to hatch my first set in August! Thanks

From what ive gathered, no hatchery sells Araucanas/Americanas, they are all just chickens that are crossed to produce colored eggs. Sorry.

well then he is a Araucana I guess?? Because he came from a hatchery. I was jus wonderin if Anyone close by had any hens that they might sell me. I would like to have some colored eggs. If i breed him with the ameriaucana will i get colored eggs or do I need to use a EE?

Aracaunas are pretty rare- you won't find them from a hatchery. You probably have an Easter Egger. Easter Egger girls are fairly easy to find. There is no guarantee that they lay colored eggs- (I have 2 that lay brown eggs)- but you're best bet is to get more EEs & olive eggers for a colorful egg basket.

Thanks. If any of you know where I can get any OE or EE let me know because I want atleast 3 and I really want the colred egg layers. I would like somewhere close by that way I dont have to pay shipping! Also if I have to pay shipping I would like for it to not be much! also any information on these types of chickens would be nice!
