it is way to light to be a good specimen as far as color is concerned. It is not easy to get the lacing though, so judges many times don't cut as hard as they should for the lack of lacing.

I don't think many blue birds shown have the correct blue as indicated in the SOP. I have started a project with some english orps to try and introduce the PG or pattern gene into a blue line to see if I can get some better laced specimens. In my opinion we only have "edging" in our blues.
This is why I like darker blues and breed blue to black, the more black modifiers you have, the darker the edging appears.
