Happymtn - Who are the parents? Any possible fence jumpers?

I don't know where she came from- it was supposed to be one of my lav project eggs. The only thing i can think is I put a wheaten egg in by mistake, and my blue-tailed buff and golden cuckoo marans roos were running around.
The lavs are the only ones that have thier own area, for everybody else, its a free-for-all from October to February.
I wish I would have gotten another one- I think boy would be really pretty.

Will beards grow back? Two of my 10 month old Lavs have had some of their beards picked at and pulled out - on the sides mostly. They normally have wonderful beards but I think winter has made them a little 'picky' with each other. Not sure who the picker is...

They will grow back ~ if the pickers quit picking! My splash roo only has 1/2 his beard right now as he lets his girls "groom" it!

Yeah- they will grow back. If its one picker- its usually the one with the best beard

. My roos always seem to get picked more than the girls do.

They grow back. In fact, mine grew them back even better than the original!!!

Funny thing with my birds - it only seems to be the pullets that pick. Last year's pickers that are now hens aren't picking anymore but my pullets are all becoming clean faced and bare backed again ....

Why bare backed? They are picking the backs? or you have cock problems?

Yep, pickers are often pullets. I thankfully don't have any anymore, I think my picker a while ago was either a Wheatie (but all the wheaties were plucked) or a Marans I sold. . . However just recently within the last few days my EE pullet has been plucking my EE cockere's beard, obviously in this case though from boredom. I need only those two to breed, and so I must pen them separately and as much as I hate it like they do, the pen is small, so, the pullet got very bored possibly a little stressed, and plucked his beard.

As for the crele colored bird, whatever the parents are, they've gotta be either black/blue/splash/lavender carrying recessive duckwing or truly duckwing or duckwingxwheatens. Was this chick born from the Lavender pen, or someone else? Wherever it was born, if there's solid colored hens around, someone's hiding a gene. Do you have any whites? That's another big possibility.

Either way someone cuckoo colored was a parent, obviously. Could have even been a white or splash or something. The duckwing there was either from EE's going around or recessive duckwing going around.

I had an issue with a Marans pullet that developed a real taste for feathers

(I've made some changes to their diet which seems to be helping although it hasn't completely eliminated the problem yet) and the boys don't help their backs either once the damage starts. The lowest girls are the worst.
