Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Has anyone in the ABA or APA written them? When I began with what I thought was an ameraucana...of course turned EE. It is VERY unethical and just wrong to sell birds to people who just don't know. I now thankfully have good stock from Paul & Angela Smith. Just a thought...

Written them about what? If people were more attentive to detail they'd notice the spelling difference. If that weren't enough reading the catalog description makes it pretty clear what they're selling.

So I start collecting eggs today for a hatch from my Lavenders and splits, then suddenly it dawns on me that I'm not sure if all splits are black in color. I think they are, but I think I need a little reassurance, please.

All Lavender Splits are black.  2 copies of Lavender are required to express the color Lavender so a Split is only carrying 1 copy so they are black.  NOW not all blacks are splits

Thanks! Yep, I knew a black is a black is a black, but the split had me shaking my head because black was the only color I had seen.

Slick,
Do you have a nice lav roo that needs a new home? If so, PM me :)

Sorry, nothing yet. I'm keeping the one I have. :D Maybe something out of this hatch will work for you.

I know it does to us, I was just saying that they are selling to people who know no better...grant it they should do their homework and research. I am saying that a letter to tell them how unsatisfied and unethical it is for them to try to pass them off as real ameraucanas. Don't mean to offend anyone, just want people to get what they really want...again it does go back to they need to do their research and get from reputable breeders as well.

Maybe that's their excuse for really not selling true ameraucanas.
I suspect they intend to spell it exactly as they are because they know what they are selling isn't really up to snuff.

True, and thats ok as long as they don't breed and sell I guess. I do have a few EE but they r for our eating eggs, not breeding.quote name="BarnGoddess01" url="/t/260313/ameraucana-thread-for-posting-pictures-and-discussing-our-birds/18270#post_10011646"]
The sad fact is, there are probably a lot of people out there that don't care if they are getting what we think is a real "Ameraucana". All they want is a relatively pretty chicken that lays a pastel coloured egg.
