Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

It doesn't matter where they found them! They are making people believe their eggs are coming from this rooster and their chicks will look like mine! That is false advertising!

please don't get upset with me, I'm just stating, that's probably where they found it. I take pictures from google as well, but if someone asked me to take it down as it's their picture, I would. I find it wrong that he doesn't do as you asked, being those are your photos and your flock.

When are people going to learn. pipsandpeeps- good for you for reporting him
People have the mistaken idea that once a photo is on Google that it is public domain and the actual person who took the photo no longer owns it. That is not true.

Speckled, not to cause an argument, but it is that people have the mistaken idea that what they put on the web is "STILL" private. This is not true unless that material has a copyright, which for people like us is something we can afford. It would be nice that those image "users" would remove content if asked, but again, it's a moral issue...BTW, can you post pics of your coop, I'm looking for ideas...might as well just go to the source!

I wonder if they took pictures from people on their other 2 auctions. They didn't spell wheaten right on their auction for the AMs either

Send them another messqge stating your going t o o ask them one more time to pleas3 remove 4he photos and if th3y dont that you will r2port thhem. If they do not th e n report them

This guy stole a picture from my website and another from someone else. The picture is actually a bird I sold to Mahonri here on BYC and he took the photo but gave me permission to use it.

I have asked them to remove the photo and they will not respond, so people do your thing......
That sort of thing is so frustrating! This is the reason I have decided to take the trouble to start watermarking everything. It sounds like a royal pain.

That said, I went to the link and it totally looks like pics lifted from the google images. They are grainy, not full sized and just a little 'off' looking. If I was a buyer, I'd probably pass him up because the photos LOOK lifted.

It is always best to grow stock you are proud of and use your own photos!

On this topic, can someone clarify this for me? I was told that once I posted photos to BYC that BYC then had ownership rights and could use them as they wanted. Is this true?

Didn't say it was private, just still the property of the owner of the photograph, a different issue, really, than privacy. My photos are NOT automatically public domain. No one's are.

Go to the coops section on BYC and look in Large Coops for "Clutch Hutch" and you'll find pages and pages of photos of the construction of the original coop and some of the addition, I think.

I recall someone used a photo of a mixed breed rooster I gave to lockedhearts to advertise his Blue Ameraucanas. There was not ONE DROP of Ameraucana or Easter Egger blood in that bird. He was blue, had a pea-single combo comb and an EE type body, but he was Buff Orp rooster over blue bantam frizzle pea combed part cochin hen. If I recall, he also had a photo of my Blue Orp, Suede, in his ad for BBS Orps. BOTH were removed. He thought they were public domain because they were on the web, absolutely NOT true. Not only did he not own the bird, it was not even the breed he was advertising/promoting. Crazy.
