Wow! Some of you have gotten some really nice Lavender hatches! Congrats!!!

My 3 headed hen ended up with 3 Lavender and 3 split chicks. One egg had gotten cracked a while back and one just didn't hatch.

Then two days later one of the moms moved down to the bottom nest to help the other mom hatch her eggs, and they were joined part of the time by a third mom! So far 3 eggs have hatched but one got stepped by a mom on while hatching and I don't think the chick is going to make it. I hope the others hatch alright.

Cute baby chicks pics! I also have a Cochin hen hatching eggs now. So far 2 Black Cochin bantams and two Sultan bantams have hatched.
I just love watching the chicks interact with their moms. Better than TV for sure!

Is there an obvious difference in black and dark blue chicks? I have some 4-5 day old chicks hatched from pips and peeps, and one is obviouly blue, but a few I assumed were black are now looking dark blue. Thanks, dak

Mike didn't say, but I'm guessing it was a while back. It's amazing how long a recessive gene can bounce around before it bumps into another one!

Thanks, good to know. I have them in with 10 blacks I just got From the Smiths for comparison. Now I have to wait and see how my lavender eggs from Mr. Shaffer do.
