Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

What color are the bottoms of their feet?

My husband was the camera man so bare with these pictures. He's not good at holding birds and he's colorblind so photography skills are sub par . He tried lol.

And since my black copper is obviously not a true ameraucana , I'm hoping it was mutted with a Maran . Wouldn't be a loss at all if I had some olive eggs to look forward to!

Their feather color is not quite right, so I would presume that they are mixed variety birds.  So they would be ee's.

Welp, so much for true blue. Oh well they are stunning to say the least. So I guess I can breed them with just about anything and call them EE's ? That seems pretty easy for the spring time. How easy do those sell? Not trying to make a profit just want to enjoy chicks and not have to butcher them myself. I might get some jersey Giants. If a jersey giant rooster and one of my EE hooked up would that still make the chicks EE or would they be just plain mongrels at that point lol?

lol, thanks Gentry, I'm glad someone maybe got the Hellmouth reference. All guinea species I've seen look like various monsters. My hen is starting to lose her neck feathers and face feathers, her eyes are getting more beady, her horn is threatening to erupt more and more each day(I love how they call it a "helmet" when we all know it's a freakin horn) it's like she's Gizmo turning into a Gremlin and I'm powerless to stop it. My husband looked at her yesterday and said "yep, yeah, Ducky is starting to look terrifying." Poor giuneas. My EE and BR hens are getting increasingly voluptuous and womanly, (I think EEs look like fledgling lion-dinosaurs as teenagers) while my sweet Ducky Duck is transforming into Demonic Space Turkey From Beyond..,
Do all EEs tend to get really fluffy and round usually? I would like to ensure she does, and when she does I'm going to snuggle her whether she likes it or not, those cheek feathers were a stroke of genius, especially on a proud chicken who takes herself seriously lol. Maybe that's why giuneas are so goofy, they're aware of what they're going to look like and just accept their role as birdy clowns right away. My silver sebright chicks already know they're too sexy for their shirts, and expect to be treated like the finest bone china lol. Then the little keet just puts a big dumb foot on their face as he tries to climb atop the feeder, lol. Birds are so fun to watch, and I swear my guineas at least have a sense of humor big time. Dunno if chickens do yet..,

So ANY color egg in this chart is acceptable in a show bred Ameraucana? And here all this time I thought a blue egg only was accepted normal. Since the EEs give mostly the greens (with a rare blue egg EE occasionally) I thought blue was the only accepted in APA Am's which is why I ordered APA Amer for the blue egg - I guess I'm lucky that my girl actually did lay blue or I would've been a tad disappointed - not disappointed in the bird as she is a lovely personality but I would've felt "duped" at the time if I got green eggs. Live and learn something new every day no matter how long I've been around chickens -

I'm pretty sure that my three AM chicks are male. Just like the three I hatched last year. These three are blues so about what age would you expect the dark cape to show? I'm keeping an eye out for pointed feathers coming in but they are only 11 weeks old. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
