These birds are all about 2 years old. They should still be in their prime laying years.

Well that was my only idea. I hope you solve the problem. You could try to introduce a different roo just for a little while and hatch eggs from the different pairing. That would take a while but you could see if it's the fault of the roo that way.

You know, that gave me another idea. Are the birds line bred? What I mean is were they hatched from parents that were siblings or parent/offspring pairings? That could reduce egg size if done too long

I would change rooster too for the simple fact that a bw roo over bbs hens gives you EEs.

Chick size at hatch is related to the size of the egg they hatch from . After that it is genetics and nutrition .

Percheron, there's absolutely nothing wrong with easter eggers, they're popular and it's a mixed flock so they'd be EE anyhow. This way I get some blue egg chicks and some green.
(Incidentally I've been looking for wheaten hatching eggs for months now and nobody seems to have any to allow me to transition into the birds I'd like to be raising... I have no interest in raising BBS long term. If anyone has any hatching eggs, I'm very interested in them.)

Unfortunately I can't keep two roosters here. I live in an area where I'm pushing it keeping one. :/ So I was trying to find out if there's some sort of genetic precedence for it or something.

Since the hens are golden buffs (which are a mix) and none of the hens are related to the roo, I don't think that's it... Not certain about the roo himself but he came out of a normal sized egg.

The chicks are free-fed 18-20% Flock Raiser until they're old enough to start getting layer feed.
