Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hey! How are you doing? Ready to go home? Thanks for helping me earlier with my pictures! I'd die if I couldn't share my pictures!! Do you think they'll come tomorrow? The delivery date says Thursday! That would be so great!!

The afternoon mine hit SC, they were at my local PO first thing the next morning. Maybe you will get a pleasant surprise

First, the disclaimer - this is just my opinion and does not reflect, or represent the policies, opinions, or regulations of the Ameraucana Breeders Club, the APA, the ABA, the DEA, IRS, or PTA. @scflock 's cockerel on the left and @RavynFallen 's on the right

beak looks to have some bone coloring, just a personal preference for all black good beak color

eye color looks good good eye color

could be thicker muffs and beards lacking in beard and muffs

comb may be a bit high, but nice tight fit to skull would like to see smaller comb - but that could be age?

tail set looks perfect, but this angle is a bit tough to tell. nice transition from neck to back to tail. tail set about 40, should be 45, but nice transition from neck to back to tail

Good feather quality, nice width on tail feathers good feather quality, very nice wide tail feathers

good length on back, but hard to tell from this angle nice length of back

i've seen other pictures where he shows more breast than is shown in this pic good prominent breast
Take this with a grain of salt - remember, I've only been breeding Ameraucanas for 5 years! Personally, my pick would be scflock's cockerel, BUT neither of them have any major issues and the few I noted above are not show stoppers and can be managed with good breeding selections.
Thank you, Susan... really appreciate the time and consideration... no, comb is definitely to high I am working on it and the beard/muffs... And your disclaimer... :lau
That one picture of him with the flock is the best picture I have ever taken of him with a strong breast. I think he was showing off for the girls :gig
Not bad, SC... :highfive:

I would think it is a snake. Maybe something is living up higher in the hole in the tree. I don't know if squirrels take them or not. I wouldn't think they would for eating but who knows?
Yes..... I thought that same thing. Maybe something else lives in that tree!

Slowly building my numbers on LF white .
Jerry I love your whites! These will be your starting foundation of your white LF stock! I know almost nothing about these birds yet but these are very beautiful! My husband loves the whites also! Your chicks are precious! My chicks left Texas half an hour ago! Sc thinks I'll get them tomorrow that would be nice!!!! Yes! Better than chocolate for sure!

Question for mr Blehm. The very left egg is from a silver pullet 11 months, it is bullet shaped and whitesh. The 2 eggs to to right are lavender eggs. Is it normal for the silver eggs to be smaller and whiter than the lavender eggs? Also two of my Silver pullets are still not laying and they are almost a-year-old? The silvers are smaller than the lavender pullets.

Thanks.
