Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

These were taken just after the framing and walls were done. I've added roost poles to the back, and the Waterers and feeders hang from the ceiling in the front. There's plenty of open room in the middle for scratching and dust bathing. It's a duplex, two pens with a common wall

I put a deep bed of leaves for litter, then clean it out between groups

This is great! I am getting ready to do something like this and love your set up. Now to just do it. I have 12 3 wk olds that are quickly outgrowing their coop.

If both parents were carrying one copy of the recessive white, yes

I really hope it is, I'd love to have a white. I'm pretty sure it's a little pullet, too. All of my splash so far have had varying shades of blue hue, but this one is totally yellow, and the beak is completely pale. It will be interesting to watch her grow out

I have a recessive white out of Pauls Birds. Maybe two! I don't know what the pairing was! The one looked more yellow then the others. It sounds like you may have a white. You may need two black roosters! lol I have extras!

We need more pens! Love the chicken math!

I got two last year out of Paul's. I did not know they were white and I had given them away to a friend. They were both roos and she wound up giving them to someone else. I just had one hatch on 3/19. The question was, "is she a splash or white". Pips and Peeps said white, and I am pretty sure she is. She is still very pale yellow with whitish feathers growing in.

Well, she looks pretty white here. Mine came from Hawkeye, a black roo and either a black or splash hen.

She looks white! Maybe I will get lucky and hatch out a white from my splash when they get older. I think my white one is a hen. I just need a rooster. That would be Awsome!
