Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Ok, thanks. There are a few with just a tiny dot on the head, and just a little color on some of their wings. The chicks hatched are solid yellow, (wheatens) the chicks from TX are the ones that are showing just a touch of color on the wings, but they're a mix..wheaten's and blue wheatens..

WHAT? You weren't standing at the PO door when the clerk showed up for work? Bad, uncaring Momma!

Very cute and so great they all showed up healthy and lively. Must be due to the "unknown Lady's" superb care in shipping them.

Um marchick, You adopted her, you'll have to compare it to Susan's bum for familial similarities

The post office lady called me when I was headed out the door! She came in early today and called me at 7:00. Susan is Awsome! Thank you Susan! I love my babies! Yes they are my babies! I don't know how but they take after me 100%

I came home from picking up my son at school and grocery shopping and discovered that in the 2 hours that I was gone, 3 of my ameraucana pullets (and my only serama cockerel) had dropped dead. I have no idea what happened. Broken hearted doesn't even begin to describe it.

I am so sorry! I know they are like kids to us!

Thank you. I've lost chicks before. It always sucks but this just seems so much worse because i have been wanting these for years and it was not easy finding them. Now I'm afraid something will happen with the rest of them and I'll be right back where I started...

Oh, how awful! I'm so sorry for your loss.

Do you have a clue why they all succumbed in the same 2 hours? No injuries? A family pet cat or dog that could've scared them or chased them? That is just too weird! So very sorry.

Our dogs were in the house. I don't think it was a stray dog or other predator harassing them. I had about 20 chickens roaming the yard and all are unharmed and don't seem stressed about anything. Their grow out pen is sturdy wood with 1/4 in hardware cloth. I'm treating for coccidia just in case, though they have had no symptoms. I still have 4 pullets and 6 cockerels. Fingers crossed we don't lose more...

What's strange is losing 4 birds in the same 2 hours. I pray for your luck to turn around!
