Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I would bite your thumb too if you toe punched me! Smart chick!
They are lovely @RavynFallen

Hey, the other one had more reason to be irritated, I almost messed up the punch on it... :/

Actually, toe punching isn't bad at all... and no worrying about changing bands, losing bands, etc...

Thanks, but Susan gets all the credit... can't wait to see these guys grown up!! :ya

Here's my littlest of the 8 I have. She's a bit mussed from running to keep me from catching. Really was hoping for some real Americauna's unfortunately this little one is the only one of 8 close to what I understand are breed standard. Has tufts, curved beak and feet and legs are black. Unfortunately soles of feet are yellowish.

Very cute little Easter Egger.

I really like these little ones. They all try and run away when I reach to pick one up but then just settle right down. One little chipmunk likes running at my hand when I peck at their food dish.

That is quite characteristic of EEs and Ameraucanas alike. They are jittery jumpy skittery birds but one of the sweetest kindest flockmates. I hate putting them into a flock of dual purpose or heavy breeds because they can get picked on. These are sweet birds to mix with more docile birds like Silkies, Cochins, Polish, Faverolles, Sultans, Pavlovskayas, etc etc.

I respectfully disagree. From over 35 years of breeding Ameraucanas I find them "overall" as docile as the breeds that you list (that I'm familiar with) and not jittery, jumpy or skittery (?). Within the breed I would say that buffs, both bantams and large fowl, are the calmest and silvers, both bantams and large fowl the flightiest.
