Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hello! I've just started raising backyard chickens for the first time and we bought to Ameraucanas. I don't know if they're actual or ee's. Do you think you can tell me at about a month old?

Here's a question: how old should Blue Wheatens be before their legs start darkening? Mine around 10 weeks old and their legs are still pretty white.

Lighter legs is a common issue in many wheaten/blue wheaten lines...

If they came from a feed store or hatchery and weren't a specified color, then they're EE's... green legs is a big sign of EE as well... yours look like EE's from what I see...

Ahh well. They may not be show quality then but they're just yard birds anyway. Seriously though, do you know how old BWs are when their legs start darkening? Now I'm just curious, and everything I find just says they SHOULD darken as they "get older".

Not sure... think a lot of it is when they feather in and/or when their hormones kick in, maybe?

But I'm not sure, I don't raise or breed wheaten or blue wheaten.

Does this look like a black Ameraucana rooster? I recently got some eggs from this guy and some BBS hens. The seller said that the eggs almost always hatch black chicks.

He has leakage... he will pass that on to his offspring... breeding that out *can be* done, but it will take lots of time and many, many hatchings...

True breed ameraucanas are what..... Blue, black, splash? I'm planning to get blue ameraucana rooster and hens. If I breed those together will I still have a true bloodline of ameraucana chickens? I'm just still researching and trying to figure out which ones will stay true to bloodline.... The blue, black or splash. Any info would be great.
