Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Wow! What a beautiful Fall picture. (even with your limited camera technology)What is his coloring called?

He's splash wheaten. Not a standard color, but a natural result of blue wheaten x blue wheaten breedings. I have a mix of wheaten & BW girls, so I'm sure I'll end up with more splashes(if he ever mans up- that is!). I just realized the other day that he even has the red lacing in his "butt fluff". Too bad the pic is totally blurry.

Chicken Stalker said "Unlike humans the hens determine the gender of the chicks.
" Wow! I never knew that! did an internet search and learned more about it. Fascinating!

Thanks Jeremy! I love the SW roos too.
Looks like I might have to build a seperate pen for him & some girls though- not a dominant bone in his body. He hardly ever crows, but when he does it's so cute. Sounds like there's a banty cochin stuck inside him

Claude's crow does have a higher pitch to it than my Delaware rooster's does, I wonder if that's a typical Ameraucana trait. My Del sounds like a foghorn!

I really like the softer colors of the SW boys. You got Groovy Man from Tailfeathers, right? He's got quite a nice beard.

Tried introducing Bonnie and Clyde today for a few minutes.

End results was Clyde with a mouth full of feathers and Bonnie terrified.

I'm going to pen them next to eachother and see how things go. Don't care how long it takes, I want hatching eggs!
