Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

pips&peeps :

It's kind of beat up and has some scratches and poo on it. I wonder what she will lay next, hopefully it will be almost as good.

Keep us posted.

pips&peeps :

I found this egg this morning. It is from one of my lavender pullets. This is not a joke, this is the actual egg color.

I imagine the next one won't be exactly this color since sometimes the eggs take a long time to run through the oviduct when the birds are first starting up.

Hopefully you can see the detail in the picture. This looks like it was painted with dye for easter.

Well, the picture does not do it justice. It is a much darker blue.

It would be interesting to see her first 7-10 eggs photographed in sequence. It is a beautiful egg Jean. You should blow it out. It is almost like she was crossed with an emu.

Very nice. Heck, your 'project color' bird has better egg color than some of the standardized ones. That's saying a lot.

Here is a better picture..... I hope.

Holy COW!!! That's amazing. I think you may have a run on orders for your lavs, purely based on egg color alone!

That egg reminds me of the eggs my friend's cousin used to get from her 'ameraucanas', 20 years ago. I was simply awed, and they were/are the reason I got into chickens in the first place.

Mine may be an impossible, implausible request, but I'll toss it out there anyway.

I'm looking for some LF blue wheaten and/or wheaten pullets. A few folks I've contacted expect to have pullets later in the season, but I'd love some sooner. I absolutely

cannot have roos. Sooooo, I was wondering if I could find a local breeder who would sell me day old chicks, but later take back the roos that I'll likely get from the group. Of course I'd not want my money back for the roos (!), just a place to rehome them. This is probably a far-fetched notion, but I'm giving it a shot. I'm located in New England and would drive to pick up the chicks and eventually to return the roos back to the breeder, so I'd like to find a breeder located in New England. Thanks, all!
