Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thought I'd post a pic of my Blue Wheaten Roo "Geoffry III"... he is the "grandson" of my original Geoffry that I purchased from Jean.

He's big and a real looker and hatched from a VERY BLUE EGG.

He hatched at Easter, has not yet crowed, nor has he mated with any of the hens yet...

I have two of my wheaten girls laying so I hope he starts doing his thing so I can hatch out some of his babies this coming Easter.

He Is just gorgeous!

Do you plan to keep him inside?

Quote: So far he has not crowed.

I hope that he will start breeding the hens and that the other two freeloading wheaten hens will start to lay so I can get some of his chicks for Easter. If that doesn't happen and he starts to crow, he will retire to a farm in Heber, AZ where there are some more Ameraucana hens....and I'll be able to get some chicks from him that way.

well he is a really pretty boy. I am mostly interested in very blue eggs; I have a bunch of EE that are not laying yet so don't know what I"ll get but would love to have some girls with blue eggs, even if they are not show quality

Is there anyone in Connecticut selling Ameraucana hens?
We're looking for one or two hens to add to our pet flock so a PQ bird would do just fine as long as they're healthy, happy and laying colored eggs.

Are you looking for Easter Eggers, or pure-bred Ameraucanas? 'Cause the Ameraucana Breeder's Club is a great place to find breeders for Ameraucanas. Easter Eggers are sold at most mail order hatcheries.

I don't know a lot about the breeds, but I know that Ameraucans usually lay light blue eggs, and Easter Eggers can lay anything from a blue, to a green, to the occasional pink egg. Both are good birds!

Good luck!

I'd like to have a couple of pure Ameraucanas for the blue eggs. We have some EE's.

One of my wheatie girls is the loudest of loud. She likes to make noise like she's in the jungle and wants everyone to know she's there!

On an awesome note, I saw my roo on top of one of my laying wheaten girls. Time to get out the incubator!
