Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Why would you say she's an EE and not an Ameracauna?

Because she is not a "standard" color. By the Ameraucana Breeders Association's own rules - anything that is not "Standard Colors" are called Easter Eggers. Your bird is not White, Black, Blue, Buff, Wheaten, Blue-Wheaten Silver or Brown-Red. Therefore - your bird is an Easter Egger. She may also have green legs, which means yellow skin. No Ameraucanas have yellow skin. Come over to the EE's thread where we all love our birds for the differences in them. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273489/the-ee-braggers-thread

we are pretty sure my blue ameraucana is laying brown eggs!!! I really don't understand, she has slate lags, blue coloring, big muffs and beards, white bottoms of feet and a pea comb =( is there any sure way to know?

Put some food coloring in her vent, then you'll see what egg she is laying.

Hi Peeps,

I am looking for breeding quality purebred Silver Ameraucanas to add to my trio. Hatching eggs or chicks, possibly pullets if I can pick up. I live in Springfield Vermont.

I have contacted almost all of the Silver breeders on the ABC breeders page. So far I have had two replies, but the birds available won't work for me.

My birds are John Blehm birds from 4-2-12 hatch. Please let me know what you have? Thank you
Thought I posted this here once but can't seem to find it! Please forgive me if it's a repeat!

There are only two hens, but I can't for the life of me tell them apart at the moment!

Wow those are some GORGEOUS birds. Good luck on your search for Silvers- I hear they are quite rare, especially good ones. Beautiful!

Got my first chicks yesterday 2 are ameraucanas. Didn´t know that they could be so big. All 4 birds I got were suppose to be 3 weeks old but the Ameraucanas are much heavier than the other 2 birds. One is a Buff Orphington and the other is an Australop (sp?). Is this normal?
