Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Since those pics posted reminded me of something... Most of those wheatens have 'barring'. I noticed that my hatches this year also are producing noticeable 'barring' as well. Any insight? I will say that the only thing new is the Wayne Meredith blood I added last year. I hatched 2 generations before this and never had barring. Just curious about it.

yep i noticed it too. i thought they might be EEs at first. i know a lot f breeders are trying to make barred ams

I have been meaning to get over here for quite a while. These are 3 of the black Ameraucanas that I hatched from Dak's eggs last summer. I hatched 4 pullets and 1 cockerel!

What you are seeing is juvenile barring and not true barring. It goes away as they mature. Not anything to worry about.
