Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Won't two blue wheatens produce a regular wheaten?

Yes. Standard blue genetics apply . 50% blue wheaten 25% wheaten 25% splash wheaten . What I was trying to say is the blue wheaten x blue wheaten mating will produce purebreds . The others EE .

Thanks for the info. If I used a solid color ameraucana, example, black to blue is that considered pure? Or do you have to stay with the same colors for the rooster and hen?

You can breed certain colors together. Like Blue, black, and splash. Wheaten, blue wheaten, and splash wheaten.

Does anyone have a photo of an ideal pea comb on a male? I'm trying to figure out which rooster is my best example of the breed, I kinda want to keep my blue one but the 2 blacks are pretty nice looking too.... In fact it would be nice to see a few roosters to compare them too.

I posted in another thread that I was seeing some aggression in my 11 week old Ameraucana, and in that thread someone asked if I was sure it was a pullet. I'm not sure now that I think about it, but I'm new to this, so I hope you don't mind if I post some pics here and ask your opinion.

She? Those hackle and saddle feathers look pretty pointed and "cockerelish" to my untrained eye. What am I missing?

I like the comb on my Blehm line Lavender Ameraucana a lot

X2 that is definitely a boy.

Gender is hard to tell on solid colors specially on whites and blacks. It looks tall and lanky like a roo, it has 3? rows on it's comb and has a patch of beetle green on it's wing.
