Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

All my blue boys had the black coloring, especially on the wings so I could easily tell which were boys and which were girls. It would definitely help to see full body shots on these. I am thinking there is a chance that the last one is a girl.
I can't tell which blue is which from yesterday's pictures. I think both are pullets. I went through their feathers and the new feathers coming in on their backs and necks are grey, not the shiny black that the cockerels' feathers are. All the new feathers seem rounded, but most are just pin feathers so I really don't know.

Blue #1 or 5 from yesterday:

This is the other blue that I think is a pullet:

They look like pullets to me. One of mine very much looks like the bottom one. My other one is a lighter blue with very distinctive lacing. Both or pretty.

Yes they will be going fairly close. I'm in south central Pa. One splash boy is going to Maryland this weekend and a blue boy is probably going to the eastern part of the state a week later...we're meeting at a show probably within an hour of each of us. These boys are about 17 weeks and homes were basically found through FB. The splash boy is actually going to someone who had EEs. I spent a little time chatting with her about the breed and a few weeks later she decided to sell her EEs and find some nice ams to start over...quite rewarding! (I didn't enourage her to sell the EEs but she said they were egg eaters anyway. I just told her how absolutely smitten I am with my ams.) I also sold a few black cockerals this summer through CL...folks wanting the blue egg gene for their brown egg laying flocks...only asked $7 each for the blacks but was also rewarding to know they wouldn't be stew and others could enjoy this lovely breed. The first was bought by a grandfather for his grandson's first rooster and his first flock...the little boy was joy and picked the one chick with gold leakage - am so hoping he gets some pretty EEs. A welsummer breeder bought another black boy. He likes him so much he already asked if I would hatch some chicks for him next spring hoping for some nice am pullets. A fellow English setter breeder introduced me to the breed. Her gorgeous blue boy didn't like her banty roo and would chase him over the fence into her dog yard so she sold him through a local poultry FB page this summer. I did take my last black boy to an auction hoping he was bought to be a sire, not stew. I really needed to free up coop space for some lav pullets I lucked into finding. Good luck with your boys!

Hi, can anyone help me identify this young chicken of mine? I think I may have an Ameraucana and hopefully a girl. I live in Australia and there is not much information on these birds down under!

Thanks everyone.

I have four Ameraucanas that will be eight weeks old on Monday. One is black, two are blue and one is a splash. Here is the splash and the black along with my buff orpington. This pic is the orpington and all of the Ameraucanas.

It sure is a cute bird! It has the tufts like an Ameraucana. The question everyone asks is what color are the legs? If they are green it's an Easter Egger. Any other color, slate for instance is an Ameraucana. A black one, I'm not sure. As long as it doesn't have green legs it's probably an A

I think the birds in the states and in Australia differ markedly. Here in the states, your girl would probably be an araucana - tufts but no beard. But many araucana here are rumpless while I think they aren't down under. Ameraucanas are hard to find here but araucanas are really rare - people who have them can probably help you a whole ot more than me. I do know you also have some many splendid colors that we lack probably to keep from confusing them with the very popular mixes known as Easter eggers here in the states.
