Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'd like to share some pictures of my feather-babies that I took yesterday! Two Wheaten Ameraucana pullets, Gin & Tonic: I adore them. :love When they're old enough, I'll integrate them into my adult flock of EE's which is lead by my wonderful Blue Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel, Lannister: He hates his No Crow Collar. I wish I didn't have neighbors, so I could just let him crow... '
We tried the no crow collar with our Ameraucana roo to no avail. Did you happen to put it on before he started crowing or after?

Back in December I got a chick that was supposed to be a true Ameraucana. I even asked lol she said yes. She looked like she would be a brown and gold? But now she's this. No green on her legs, all slate colored and no comb whatsoever.

Hi all! I've been following along this thread for a while now. Trying to learn all I can about this lovely breed. I got 3 lavs 3 black and 11 wheaten/blue wheatens from Paul Smith several weeks ago. I lost one of the lavs and a couple of the wheatens but the rest are doing fine. Today I got several more lavs out of an order I split with my SIL. I'm super enthused about watching them matured. I Love their puffy cheeks and beards! :) I'll post pics when I get some nice ones.

I put the No Crow collar on after he started crowing, and it took TWO WEEKS to find the correct fit & position!

I ended up finding the "sweet spot" more towards the base of the neck, lower than what is pictured. And pretty tight, I can barely get the tip of my finger in.

I did all this over a couple weeks with intense supervision.

He can eat, drink, mate, and cluck... He just can't crow.

Well. Here is what I am working with this year.
No. I am not thrilled. But, they are better than they were 2yrs ago. And yes, Mr. Winter is one of those white crop-outs. I just put a bunch of his eggs in the 'bator to see what I get, since he is wheaten x wheaten. I know. You pro breeders tell everyone to cull them. He may have that single beard gene issue I was correcting, but he has some things I want back in my flock. As I stated before, if the chicks all come out white or weird, they will make someone some nice EEs. My curiosity will be taken care of, too.

Basically, since I am without a good roo, this year is a goof off year for me. I am hoping to get a roo out of the eggs and chicks I got from 2 different breeders. If not... I may have to restart my wheaten flock again next year.

I don't have a really good picture of my blue hen or of the three BBS babies. They are all too zippy to get a good picture!

Your blacks look nice, hcammack! Don't you just love the irridescence of the feathers? They look like walking stained glass windows!

above, is that considered a Blue Ameracana? What do they look like as chicks?
