Trying to decide if I should get the boy some hens of his own kind or not. If he is so so in quality I will just keep him with my mixed flock of layers. If he is good enough to be used as a breeder I will be on the look out for Blue Wheaten hatching eggs next time I have a broody. He was saved from going to freezer camp because the fellow BYCer had way to many cockerels this year. He is said to probably be out of a pips and peeps hen and a rooster from eggs that came from the East coast (I'm in PNW). That's all I know about his genetics. At least he has diverse genes!

I know it is hard to critique using pictures so here he is in motion. And please excuse the loud hen... She was beside me telling me how awful it was to be locked up in the pen for the day.

He's a nice looking Blue wheaten. I would use him.

[/IMG]Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on. It's so nice seeing all these chickens. Here's my new awesome coop with my new young Chics! Maybe someone can tell me rooster or hens? I'm sure ones a hen and almost sure the other is but only 80%.

Nice muffs and beard, I like his profile, good color of what I can see. Barring any unseen issues, I would use him.

So, how much should I expect to pay for a dozen Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs? Just a ball park estimate. And does anyone know people in Washington or Oregon that has quality stock? I'd like to find a breeder now rather than later. I have a hen who goes broody quite often and REALLY wants some chicks eventually.

What are some faults of his? Just something to keep in mind when looking at potential stock to get eggs from. Also, where can i find a good description of Blue Wheaten SOP for roos and hens? Pics would help too! I'm just trying to get a base line for where to start. Any help and suggestions welcomed.

I have pullets that I bought as ameracanas and I realized that they are really EE's but one of them that started laying later than the others layed a bright blue egg. The others eggs are light greenish blue.
