Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

He's a mixed color so would be considered an Easter Egger... and if hen looks same, then she would be too...

is there a name for the color though? I'm asking so I can try to maybe plug him into the breeding calc. I'm curious as to what he'd turn out bred to my different girls.
Eta:I had suspicions just based on where I got him from that he was EE and not purebred but he does have the slate legs and white bottoms of his feet so I wanted to check

Once colors are mixed like that, they could throw just about anything colorwise... I had an EE rooster that looked almost exactly like that and each one of his offspring was a different color and pattern... and I hatched a bunch of his, lol...

Thanks! I think I'll just trade him for a new chick since he's quite mean and I have limited space. Lol

Oh, so sorry! Mine was the best rooster... yep, I'd get rid of him too... no room here for aggressive boys... :/

His brother was even worse but made for a quite delicious chicken noodle soup =] My granddad always told me the mean ones taste the best.
I actually owe a friend of mine a chicken and I just sent her a picture of him (with a full disclaimer that he's homocidal) and she wants him so that saves me the guts and gore of having to process him lol

She's going to be a beautiful Easter Egger. There's nothing wrong with EEs. They are beautiful birds that lay colorful eggs, but they are not pure Ameraucana. The color is the giveaway. That's not an accepted color, and the legs are probably green. Stick around this thread and you will learn the difference. My first "americanas" looked exactly like yours. Hatcheries and ignorant or dishonest breeders sell them as ameraucanas. Here's an ad from my local craigslist I found last night:

Congratulations to Kathy Holly!

Kathy won the New Member Drawing for a GQF Hovabator Digital Incubator at the Ameraucana Breeders Club 2015 National!
Kathy's new incubator will be winging its way to her by the end of this week and she could be taking pictures of newly hatched chicks by Christmas!

All New Members that join, or have joined, since the National Meet are automatically entered in the 2016 New Member Drawing, which will be held at the 2016 National Meet - time, date, and location to be determined.

But shhhh - what you will be drawing for has not been revealed - it's still a secret. :)

You can join electronically by going here: http://www.ameraucana.org/membership.html

I'm just posting pictures of my chickens some people call them Easter eggers but then call theirs ameraucanas when they look the same to me they both have cheeks
Yeah, and I don't mean to sound rude. This is an Ameraucana thread with some serious Ameraucana breeders on here. Some get offended when people say they are the same thing. Thats why I try to compliment the Easter eggers, but at the same time try and point out the differences. I didn't know myself until learning on this thread
