Ok Everyone! I DO NOT have 177 chickens that was a joke!!!! lol That is kinda how it goes though! You start out with a few and get a few more! Oh! isn't that pretty! Look at those cute chicks and pretty eggs! Maybe I am the only one with a problem or maybe you are all in denial!

I do have that many... or more...

I hit a goldmine on free lumber 5 miles from my house. Check and see if there are any vinyl or aluminum siding dealers near you. Siding ships in crates put together with 2x4s that are held together with 15ft long 3 and 5 inch slats. They leave them by the dumpster and it's first come, first serve. I have loaded my F250 and trailer 4 times, and they are much easier to break down than pallets. I get so much free lumber that I started building and selling my own coops
sc I am going to have to check into that! as I will be needing a new run divided into 3 sections for my blues, blacks, and blue wheatens this Spring!!! oh I just cant wait for my babies!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and P,S, I think I got it down pat!!

I have batches that are mostly pullets, and others that are mostly cockerels, but over time it averages out to 50/50.
What excited me about these is when I sold off my extra cockerels, they sold out in 2 days. Two people drove over 1.5 hour to get them. I've never sold roosters that easily. People either looking for Smith blood, or putting them in with other hens to make EEs
what did u sell them for?

Oh! I am so glad I have someone I can look up to! You just need to get out from under the chair so I can look up! lol I will have plenty till I can cull down to my keepers. I don't think I will hatch any chicks this year. Just a few turkey poults.

lol... I'm already hatching... or more like still hatching... :gig

And have another 30+ Call duck eggs going in Sun... gonna try hatching some turkey poults this Spring too...

Do you guys keep your roosters seperate from your hens? How do you keep the roosters from pulling out all the back feathers? My hens always pluck out the beards of the head rooster.

Mine stay together all the time... I grow the cockerels out separate or with an older roo, then have the hens teach the young boys how to behave... don't have bare back issues or beard plucking... but I also live in the country and my pens are huge...
