Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm really liking this black cockerel. He's almost 4 months old and he's even getting more of a chest now. I think he has a good overall balance! Hoping he'll be my main man for my foundation breeding stock. He's also a sweetheart and I wanted to share his pic

I know it's still a little early but his black is beautiful with lots of green shine. No leakage either

What do y'all think?

Nice!

Ok, so maybe it's just me.....But EE's for all intents and purposes, look the same as Am. and Ar.......(granted Ar. will stay out of this discussion cuz they are distinctly different)
Is the only difference between Am. and EE's the fact that EE colors aren't recognized??? Cuz this is what is seeming to be the only difference.

Easter eggers have green color legs. Ameraucanas have slate color legs and white skin.

The best way I can sum it up is:

They don't breed true. You never know what the offspring will look like. The leg Color also varies on ee's and they may or may not have ear muffs or beards whereas Ameraucanas breed true so you know what your chicks will look like

No, EEs can have different combs, lay different colors of eggs, have different skin colors, and won't breed true. They may or may not have beards and muffs. There is no standard for EEs since many are mixes.

Thank you! You ordered from a good breeder. I'm sure they will.

Good job!

Ok.....so what are they mixed with?
And what happens when you have a 'EE' with slate legs but doesn't fit the 'recognized' color scheme?
