That bird looks to me like a Welsummer pullet. Are you saying it was entered as an Ameraucana?

Maybe the judge was just trying not to be too negative and discourage the kid that was showing her?

I think the judge would have done better to tell the child that his/her bird is not an Ameraucana and show the child the Ameraucana standard in the SOP and explain what the child should look for in his/her next Ameraucana. You do not have to be an Ameraucana guru to read the opening paragraph for the breed in the SOP to a child. I think that would be the responsible and right thing to do rather than lead the child to think the marks against the bird were the only problems. How else would the child learn?
