Yes you will be able to tell them apart. There are chick photos at the ABC website and that will help. I ordered 15 Brown Reds last year and the order was about 1/2 roos and 1/2 pullets.

Good luck with them.

My eggs and eggs from Jean go in the bator on Friday... looking for a New Year's Day Hatch.

Ever since my son saw tailfeathers Splash Wheaten roo, he is praying we get one of those from our Blue Wheaten eggs. I told him that the chances were slim, but he is hopeful still!

Now we have to rehome some other members of the flock to make room for more w/bw Ameraucanas.

Henry, I was always partial to the B/B/S but then my wife fell in love with the W/BW hens and the rest is history.

Thanks chickchick! I just got some beautiful pics of all three of the chicks, we're getting in april from John, off of the ABC web-site. You are right, it is very easy to tell the three varieties apart the chicks look very different!

Best wishes on getting a SW male. After seeing my first one, I couldn't wait to get one of my own. I have another one coming up under him but he's quite a few months younger so I can't tell how he's gonna turn out yet. The one in the pic has some slight red lacing in the breast area which I am hoping to get rid of.

Now, should you not be so fortunate to get a SW male, keep me in mind. I don't have any SW females yet but hope to in this next batch. Who knows how many SW females I sold this year before they were old enough to tell. I'll be keeping all the hatchlings from these next couple of batches until they're old enough for me to cull. If I get some SW females, I can ship you eggs that will give 100% SWs. If I don't, I can throw the SW male over some BW females and ship you eggs with a 50/50 chance.

God Bless,
