Best wishes on getting a SW male. After seeing my first one, I couldn't wait to get one of my own. I have another one coming up under him but he's quite a few months younger so I can't tell how he's gonna turn out yet. The one in the pic has some slight red lacing in the breast area which I am hoping to get rid of.

Now, should you not be so fortunate to get a SW male, keep me in mind. I don't have any SW females yet but hope to in this next batch. Who knows how many SW females I sold this year before they were old enough to tell. I'll be keeping all the hatchlings from these next couple of batches until they're old enough for me to cull. If I get some SW females, I can ship you eggs that will give 100% SWs. If I don't, I can throw the SW male over some BW females and ship you eggs with a 50/50 chance.

God Bless,

Royce that would be awesome!

Henry... great minds think alike...

Your Andre is a cutie... but he is not an Ameraucana, he is an Easter Egger.

I am getting 2-4 nice blue Ameraucana eggs from the girls now! One of two or three fertility tests just went out. One to GA and one to CA and maybe one to NH we will see. But hopefully they are fertile he has certainly been mating them

I haven't seen bullseyes yet though. I have seen bullseyes in the Faverolle eggs though.

My BW roo is doing a good job, but he won't do any of the other hen breeds, other than Ameraucana or leghorn... weird. (My GC Maran is a hit and miss guy)

Speckled hens ameraucana hen is named gypsy.

Gypsy face is when the comb color is darker then normal like black or purple. It often happens in Ameraucana in the black color I am not sure about other colors. Its easily bred out and only shows up rarely and often lightens to red when the hens get older and start to lay. Some breeders I have talked to feel like there may have been sumatra used far back in some ameraucana lines and the black combs show through occasionally.

Thats just what I think no expert though.

Example of a pullet with "Gypsy Face"...

Great Example of a gypsy face! Very dark to. I had one pullet thats comb was a bit dark but it very quickly lightened when she became mature.
