A three headed broody hen! Ahhh, run for your lives!!!! That is the stuff nightmares are made of!!

You're right about that! Those little clear eyelids that chickens have are constantly blinking too, it's pretty wierd.

I couldn't resist getting a picture last night.

Oh my gosh, that is fantastic! If we don't hear from you again, we'll KNOW what happened to you! Thanks for a great laugh to start off the day.

My goodness, that is STRANGE.

Do NOT go out to the hen house alone.

Or, wait--take a cell phone with you at least.

Don't go out there at NIGHT.

Hi everyone, been lurking for a while on this thread. My 7-year-old DD is just getting started in showing and chose bantam Ameraucanas for her breed. We now have ten 2 1/2 week olds from John Blehm -- 4 wheaten/blue wheatens, and 6 blacks (we were supposed to get 8 wheatens and 2 blacks, but he had a bad hatch, bummer). For some reason we haven't seen any bantam Ameraucanas in the shows down here, so she hasn't found a local "Ameraucana mentor". I'm hoping you all and the ABC board might be able to help us out with that as we get started. She's got her heart set on showing wheatens, but from the little I know it seems like blacks would be a lot easier, since you don't have to worry about feather patterns. I guess we'll see how they look as they get older.

In the meantime, anyone want to take a stab at sexing? Is it true you can feather sex the wheatens? The one on the far left is so much darker than the others, very different. I'm also thinking we didn't get any blue wheatens, which would be too bad -- am I right?

I have a question.
I have B/B/S ameraucanas.
I have a friend who got some of both Black and Silver chicks from John Blehm.
I know the Silver are a different line but if she gives me a Black chick or two and I have a splash rooster, will I get blue chicks that are now B/B/S?
