Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Your basic chipmunk pattern shows up on about 75%+ of all EE chicks and they turn out to be that patridgey type pattern.

Crossing to black is the best way to improve the whites, just make sure to keep track of which are carrying the white gene. I don't know if anyone would have crossed them to anything carrying the silver gene, but who knows. Mine are barred.....

ok y'all someone suggested I post this on this thread. If its inappropriate I apologize. I am looking for a quality Ameraucana rooster for my son and his 4H project. We hatched five out this year but they all turned out to be girls. He has black, blue and.splash girls. He'd love a blue roo but we are not picky. We live in Michigan near Flint. I'm willing to drive reasonably far to get one for him. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I believe I have some very nice whites located for next spring , he was purchased for use in an EE project . ETA : I'm still learning color genetics , but thought that either a proper bred black or a recessive white would break the wild pattern on EE in the F1s , though it would return to haunt you later

MissD'uccle , if you want to keep your Ameraucanas in B/B/S please shoot me a pm or email . I may pick up an extra blue roo from an excellent line this weekend .

Hi Karen . Sorry I can't help , I do not have Ameraucana eggs . If you enable your PMs , someone might contact you . Sometimes people on this thread will let you know to contact them or somebody else if you're looking for something ; otherwise its appropriate to go to the " for sale " and " wanted " sections . The BYC staff does a great job of keeping the BREEDS, GENETICS, & SHOWING sections on topic and free of sales adds , fights , etc. and I'm grateful to them for that .

What would the offspring look like if i bred this to EE hen?

Well, since EE's don't really have a standard, and you never really know who their parents and grandparents are, it would be kinda random. Like a box of choclates - you never know what your gonna get!
