Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

does that mean that yes I will get blue wheaten?

No- you'll just get blue. You need a splash wheaten, or a blue wheaten roo, not a regular splash. It's best to keep the colors in their own groups.
Blue, Black, splash together.
and
Blue wheaten, wheaten, and splash wheaten.

nope you will get a dirty blue bird F1 hens will have mostly blue body with just a few flecks of red or brown... roosters will be blue with mostly red hackle and saddle feathers... will take about 3 breeding's back to wheaten to get anything close to a pure looking blue wheaten...

Somebody was asking if their chicks could be identified as Wheaten or Blue Wheaten and male or female. Just thought I'd mention that I have finally decided on a Canon EOS 7D with several different lenses and am in the process of trying to decide where I want to buy from. Once I get the camera, one of my projects this year is going to be taking pictures of WBS Ameraucanas from 1 day old ever week their 6 months or so old and I will put them in an album on my webpage and on my website once I get it built.

That should enable anyone with WBS's to get a better idea of what they have at various ages.

God Bless,

I was told to watch the coloring of the back feathers, I have Wheaten chicks and the girls back feathers stay cream color and the boys back feathers have darker feathers coming in. There were some pictures posted but probably several pages or more back.
